3. Bongae-dong residents postpone ban on food waste
New date pushed back to November

Bongae-dong residents have decided to postpone the ban on food waste, which was originally scheduled to be set on the 15th.

The residents' committee of Bongae-dong held a meeting on the evening of the 14th and decided to postpone the plan to ban food waste from the township of Jeju until November.

Instead, they suggested conditions for composting and extracting the remaining food waste from the landfill by the end of the year.

The committee previously warned that they may block food waster from entering the landfill, as Jeju City has not been properly implementing the agreement regarding the food waste.

음식물 쓰레기 반입 금지를 유예하기로 했습니다.

봉개동 매립장 주민대책위원회는
14일 저녁 회의를 열고
제주시 읍면지역 음식물 쓰레기 반입 금지 계획을
11월까지 유예하기로 결정했습니다.

대신 연말까지 매립장에 남아있는 음식물 쓰레기를 퇴비화 해서 반출하는 조건을 제시했습니다.

한편 봉개동 주민대책위원회는
제주시가 음식물쓰레기 반입과 관련해 합의한 협약사항을 제대로 이행하지 않고 있다며
반입 거부를 예고했었습니다.
