1. Jeju records first heat-related death of the year
Province urges residents to take preventive action

The first heat-related death occurred in Jeju amid a series of heat wave warnings issued by the government.

According to the provincial government, an 85-year-old man, who was transferred to a hospital from Jeju City on the 14th by paramedics for treatment of suspected heat-related illness, died two days later in the early morning of the 16th.

This is the first heat-related death in three years since 2017.

The number of illnesses reported so far this year amounts to 35 people, and Jeju Island stressed the importance of preventive action, such as reducing outdoor activities as much as possible and making sure to drink plenty of fluids.

지난 14일 집에 있던 85살 김 모 할아버지가
온열질환이 의심돼
119 구급대에 의해 제주시내 병원으로 옮겨져 치료를 받았지만
이틀 후인 16일 새벽 숨졌다고 밝혔습니다.

지난 2017년 제주에서 첫 온열질환 사망자가 나온 후 3년만입니다.

제주도는
올들어 지금까지 신고된 온열질환자는 35명에 이르고 있다며
가급적 야외활동을 줄이고
규칙적인 수급섭취 등 예방활동의 준수를 강조하고 있습니다.
