Expectations for economic recovery fade due to COVID-19
43% of respondents expect growth rate to be -2% or lower

Expectations for an economic recovery in the manufacturing industry in Jeju Island are falling due to weak consumer confidence with the resurgence of COVID-19 cases nationwide.

According to a recent survey of 80 manufacturers by the Jeju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the index of expectations for the industry stood at 71 for the fourth quarter this year, well below the benchmark of 100.

A slight recovery was reported in the third quarter at 77, up from 43 in the second quarter. However, the index fell again to 71 in the fourth quarter.

The forecast for funding conditions stood at 51, and the forecast for operating profit was 66, which is far lower than other indexes.

Meanwhile, In a survey of the nation's economic growth forecast for this year, 43% of the respondents predicted the growth rate at -2% or lower, less than the government's estimate of a positive 0.1 percent.

올해 우리나라 경제성장률 전망에 대한 설문에서
마이너스 2% 미만이
전체의 43%로 가장 많아
정부의 전망치인
플러스 0.1% 보다 낮을 것으로 예측했습니다.
