Jeju New Deal plan announced
‘￦6.1T investment by 2025 will create 44,000 new jobs’

Following the national government's announcement of the Korean New Deal project, a comprehensive Jeju version of the New Deal plan has been proposed that will cost more than 6 trillion won.

Jeju provincial governor Won Hee-ryong and Jeju Provincial Council Chairman Jwa Nam-soo announced in a briefing on the 12th that they will invest 6.1 trillion won by 2025 to create 44,000 jobs under the Jeju New Deal plan. The plan will consist of 10 core tasks and 24 priority tasks designed to strengthen three sectors: the green, digital and safety sectors.

They explained that they would liberalize the power trade monopolized by KEPCO in the green sector, suspend new purchases of internal combustion engine vehicles from 2030, and host the 28th UN Climate Change Conference in Jeju by 2023.

As for the digital sector, the government will establish an AI big data platform and strengthen the prevention of COVID-19 by introducing the Jeju safety code in the safety sector.

Jeju Island and the Provincial Council plan to jointly secure state funds and improve the system in order for the comprehensive Jeju New Deal plan to be carried out effectively.

10대 핵심과제, 24개 중점과제로 설계된
제주형 뉴딜 종합계획에 따라
2025년까지 6조 1천억 원을 투입해
일자리 4만 4천여 개를 창출하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

먼저 그린 분야에서
한전이 독점하고 있는 전력거래를 자유화하고
2030년부터 내연차량 신규 등록을 중단하며
2023년 제28차 UN 기후변화협약 당사국총회를
제주에서 유치하겠다고 설명했습니다.

디지털 분야에서는
AI 빅데이터 플랫폼을 구축하고
안전망 분야 뉴딜의 경우
제주안심코드를 도입해
코로나19 차단 방역을 강화하기로 했습니다.

제주도와 의회는
제주형 뉴딜 종합 계획이 차질 없이 추진되도록
국비 확보와 제도 개선 등을 공동으로 추진한다는 방침입니다.
