43% of disciplinary action against government officials linked to drunk driving
Data from past 5 years shows 35 civil servants disciplined for DUI

Of all disciplinary action against Jeju Provincial Government officials in the past 5 years, 43% was found to have been linked to drunk driving.

This is according to Jeju Provincial Government data shared by the Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Han Byung-do, a member of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee. According to this data, a total of 81 civil servants were subject to disciplinary action by the Jeju Provincial Government since 2016. Of the 81, 35 of them were disciplined for drunk driving.

Disciplinary action for 25 of these cases involved salary cuts and light punishment. 10 of the cases were subject to higher levels of disciplinary action like suspension and demotion.

Two government officials were found to have been caught on drunk driving charges two times or more.

제주도청에서 징계처분을 받은 공무원은 모두 81명으로
이 가운데 35명이 음주운전으로 징계를 받은 것으로 확인됐습니다.

징계 처분별로는
경징계에 속하는 감봉과 견책이 25건으로 가장 많았고
징계 수위가 높은 정직과 강등은 모두 10건 입니다.

이와함께 음주운전으로 2회 이상 적발된
공무원도 2명 있는 것으로 파악됐습니다.
