Jeju City to propose new business plan for district

Jeju City will begin a follow-up process to change its business plan of the Hwabuk Commercial District, following the failure of the public sale of the hotel site.

Jeju City believes that it is no longer possible to use the 19,000 square meters of the initially proposed hotel site of the Hwabuk Commercial District for hotel use, as it has failed to be auctioned off four times. The city will be carrying out services for repurposing the plot or subdividing the land.

Once the service results are released, they will begin the process of changing the district unit plan for the Hwabuk Commercial District.

The district has suffered a setback in the construction of hotels, which account for 84 percent of the total project cost, forcing a revision of the overall business plan.
