Police uncover illegal farmland transactions
205 people arrested, including 10 civil servants

A number of agricultural corporations have been caught purchasing farmland for the sole purpose of future illegal trading.

The Jeju Provincial Police Agency has arrested a total of 205 people, which include employees from 12 agricultural corporations. They have been charged with violating the farmland law and have been sent to the prosecution for indictment.

According to the police, 17 of the 205 people arrested were found to have made 14 billion won in capital gains by purchasing farmland for speculative purposes and selling it back.

Ten civil servants were also found to be among the suspects charged.

기소의견으로 검찰에 송치했습니다.

경찰에 따르면 이번에 검거된 205명 가운데 17명은
투기 목적으로
농지를 매입하고 이를 되팔아
140억원의 시세 차익을 얻은 것으로 확인됐습니다.

특히 입건된 피의자 가운데는
10명의 공무원도 포함된 것으로 나타났습니다.
