Public debate to be held on limits to national park zone expansion
Participants need to submit applications to attend

Jeju Island will conduct a public debate on the plan to reduce the expansion zones for national parks by half.

The Jeju City Farmers' Center and the Seogwipo City Agricultural Technology Center will hold a residents’ briefing and public hearing on December 8th under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment. The participants need to submit applications to attend by December 4th.

From the 23rd of this month to the 7th of next month, the two organizations will publicize the expansion plans of the national parks and accept suggestions from the public.

The national parks were originally planned to be expanded to 610 square kilometers. The updated plan is to expand the area to only 303 square kilometers, which exclude Udo Island, the Chuja Marine Zone, private property, and communities opposed to the expansion.

절반 가량 축소하는 방안에 대해 도민 공론화 절차를 진행합니다.

이에 따라 다음달 8일
제주시 농어업인회관과 서귀포시 농업기술원에서
환경부 주관으로
주민설명회와 공청회를 개최하기로 하고
다음달 4일까지 사전 신청을 받습니다.

오는 23일부터 다음달 7일까지는
국립공원 확대 지정 계획을 주민에게 공람하고
의견도 접수할 계획입니다.

한편 국립공원은
당초 610 제곱킬로미터 규모로 확대하려 했지만
우도와 추자 해양지역, 표고버섯 농가 등 반대지역과
사유지 등을 제외하고
303 제곱킬로미터만 확대하는 것으로 변경 추진됩니다.
