Poultry from North and Gyeongsang-buk do, Jeollabuk-do provinces banned
Order issued after highly pathogenic AI detected

Jeju Island announced a ban on all poultry and by-products from Gyeongsang-buk do, Jeollabuk-do provinces, where highly pathogenic influenza has recently occurred at spawning farms. The order came into effect at midnight on the 3rd.

Poultry, such as live chickens, ducks and domestic birds, from all regions regardless of the outbreak of influenza, will also be banned.

Jeju Island maintains a 24-hour quarantine system focusing on migratory bird sites including Hado-ri in Gujwa-eup and Yongsu-ri in Hangyeong-myeon.

The amount of poultry from other regions consumed in Jeju is about 30 percent. Jeju island expects that there will be no supply shortages, as the amount of poultry consumed in Jeju fell due to the decrease in school meals in the wake of COVID-19.
