Provincial council criticized for budget cuts to Jeju’s local currency
Council slashes ￦2B from ￦3B budget for 2021

The Jeju Small Business Association issued a statement urging the Provincial Council to withdraw plans for their budget cuts regarding the issuance of Jeju’s local currency.

The group criticized the cut in the budget for the local currency, as it affects small business owners who are suffering from the economic fallout caused by COVID-19. They stated that the decision did not comply with the purpose of issuing local currency to revitalize the local economy.

The critique comes after a decision made by the Jeju Provincial Council's Economic Committee for Agricultural, Fishery and Livestock to extract 2 billion won from the 3 billion won budget for the local currency in next year’s budget.

앞서 제주도의회 농수축경제위원회는
내년도 제주도 예산안 심사에서
지역화폐 관련 예산 30억 원 가운데
20억 원을 삭감했습니다.
