Governor Won expresses regret over third wave of COVID-19
Announces plan to heighten quarantine measures, revive economy

Governor Won Hee-ryong recently cited the third wave of COVID 19 on Jeju Island as the most regrettable thing of the year and announced his plans to focus on COVID-19 quarantine measures and economic recovery for the upcoming year.

During a year-end talk in the governor’s office held on the morning of the 28th, Governor Won told journalists that although Jeju Island was able to resist the first and second waves with the cooperation of provincial residents, it was regrettable that the province faced a major crisis with the third wave that began on the 15th.

He added that next year, the province will focus on COVID-19 quarantine measures and economic recovery and will work towards creating policies that will bring hope and progress for when the pandemic ends.

As for the post-COVID-19 initiative, as face-to-face contact has been limited due to the pandemic, he emphasized that it is necessary to strengthen Jeju's brands, products, and services in order to export nationwide and around the world.

제주도는 도민들의 협력 속에
1차, 2차 유행까지는 잘 방어했지만
지난 15일부터 시작된 3차 유행으로
큰 고비를 맞은 점이 가장 아쉽다고 말했습니다.

그러면서 내년에는
코로나 방역과 경제 회복에 중점을 두고
코로나 상황이 반전되는 때가 오면
발전과 희망을 만들어나갈 수 있도록 준비하겠다고 덧붙였습니다.

포스트 코로나 구상에 대해서는
코로나로 인해
기존 대면접촉이나 직접 소비에 한계가 있는 만큼
제주의 브랜드와 상품, 서비스를
전국, 전세계로 보낼 수 있는 체질 강화가 필요하다고 강조했습니다.
