Jeju’s duty-free and casino industries continue to spiral downward
Retail sales index of DFS drops by 70%

The financial difficulties of duty-free shops and casinos in the province are intensifying due to COVID-19.

According to the December regional economic report published by the Jeju headquarters of the Bank of Korea, the retail sales index of duty-free shops in Jeju decreased by 70% compared to the same period last year.

Most of the national government's support measures, such as domestic sales of inventories, are concentrated in the Seoul metropolitan area, and the competition to attract proxy buyers has led to a significant increase in commission fees.

As this year’s casino sales are expected to be less than one-third of last year’s 190 billion won, a setback in raising the Jeju Tourism Promotion Fund is anticipated.

차질이 있을 것으로 내다봤습니다.
