‘The Empty Grave’ wins award at Ningbo Film Festival
Portrays emotional story of a bereaved family member of 4.3 Incident

Director Byun Sung-jin's (변성진) "The Empty Grave” has won the Best Foreign Language Short Film Award at the 5th Ningbo International Short Film Festival.

"The Empty Grave” was praised for its emotional story of a Korean-Japanese grandmother who commissioned a mowing company in Jeju to find the grave of her father who died during the 4.3 Incident.

Earlier last year, "The Empty Grave” won the Best Picture and Best Actor awards at the 4th Korea-China International Short Film Festival.

This year’s Ningbo film festival nominated director Kim Seung-hwan's "It's look sunshine" (이추룩선샤인) for the best foreign language short film as well as best video.

5. 제주 4.3 '헛묘' 닝보영화제 외국어단편 '최우수'

최근 폐막한 제5회 닝보국제단편영화제에서
변성진 감독의 '헛묘'가 최우수 외국어 단편영화상을 수상했습니다.

'헛묘'는
제주벌초대행업체가
재일교포 할머니의 의뢰를 받아
4.3 당시 돌아가신
아버지의 묘를 찾으면서 벌어진 사건을 둘러싸고
슬프면서도 감동적인 장면들을 그려냈다는 평가를 받고 있습니다.

앞서 '헛묘'는 지난해 초 제4회 한중국제단편영화제에서도 최우수작품상과 남우주연상을 수상했습니다.

이번 영화제에서는
김승환 감독의 '이추룩선샤인'이
최우수 외국어 단편 영화 부문과
최우수 영상부문 최종 후보작에 선정되기도 했습니다.
