Heavy snowfall alert issued
Up to 30cm of snowfall expected in mountainous areas through weekend

A cold wave warning has been issued in mountainous areas in Jeju today.


According to the Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration, a heavy snowfall alert has been issued for the island. 10 to 30 cm of snowfall is expected in mountainous areas along with 5cm to 10cm of snow in coastal areas through the weekend.

Drivers are urged to check traffic information, as roads are freezing over.

The Jeju headquarters of the Korea Airports Corporation has announced that over 30 flights have been cancelled today.

오늘 제주는 산지에 한파경보가 발효되는 등
강력한 추위와 함께 많은 눈이 오고 있습니다.

제주지방기상청에 따르면
제주 전역에 대설특보가 발효된 가운데
주말까지 제주 산지에는 10에서 30cm 이상,
해안가에는 5에서 10cm,
많은 곳은 15cm 이상의 눈이 쌓이겠습니다.

낮에도 기온이 영하 1도에서 0도로 나타나
크게 오르지 못하겠고
제주 전역에 강풍특보가 발효되는 등
강풍도 불어 체감온도를 떨어뜨리겠습니다.

눈이 내리면서 도로 곳곳이 결빙돼
교통 안전에 각별한 주의가 요구됩니다.

한국공항공사 제주지역본부에 따르면
오늘(8일) 제주공항에 급변풍과 저시정,
강풍, 대설특보가 발효된 가운데
아침 7시 김포로 가려던 아시아나 항공을 포함해
모두 32편이 결항됐습니다.
