Vulnerable families in crisis increase in the aftermath of COVID-19

An increasing number of vulnerable families are experiencing economic difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 outbreak.

According to the city of Jeju, the number of people receiving basic living subsidies as of the end of last year was about 20,000, which was an increase of 19% from the previous year.

The number of people who became eligible due to sudden unemployment and hardships increased by more than 50% from 2019, when 1,900 applications were submitted, to 2020, when 2,900 became eligible for the allowance.

Jeju City cited unemployment and decreased income due to COVID-19 as the main reasons for the jump in the number of beneficiaries compared to the previous years, and said they will come up with various support measures to help those affected.

Meanwhile, one additional COVID-19 patient was confirmed in Jeju, leading to the total number of patients numbering at 486 as of 5 p.m. on the 10th.

The province said that the patient was tested after experiencing fever symptoms on the 9th.

마련하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

오늘(10일) 제주지역 코로나19 확진자가 1명이 추가 발생해
누적 환자는 486명으로 늘었습니다.

제주도에 따르면
486번 확진자는 지난 9일 오후 미열 증상이 있어
제주보건소에서 검체검사를 진행한 결과 오늘 오후 확진 판정을 받았습니다.
