4·3 Special Act amendment fails to pass at National Assembly
Opposing party disagrees on wording of amendment

The parliamentary proceeding of the amendment to the 4.3 Special Act has been canceled amid expectations for an agreement on compensation for the victims of the 4.3 Incident.

The revision of the 4.3 Special Act was not introduced to the National Assembly's plenary session on the 8th, following the subcommittee’s bill review that occurred on the 7th.

The opposing party, the People Power party, has disagreed on the term "consolation" money that was used in the final proposals agreed by the ruling party and the government. They stated that further discussion was necessary as there could be confusion, causing the amendment to be canceled.

The revised 4.3 Special Act will be addressed again at the extraordinary session of the National Assembly next month, but it is unclear whether the Democratic Party of Korea and the People Power Party will be able to reach an agreement.

다음달 열릴 임시국회에서 다시 다뤄질 예정이지만
민주당과 국민의힘이
합의점을 찾을 수 있을지는 불투명한 상황입니다.
