Governor Won Hee-ryong, who had been ambiguous about a bid for the presidency, has officially announced his candidacy in a New Year’s Talk with KCTV.

The governor has expressed his ambition to run for the presidential nomination starting in July to be elected as an opposition candidate.

For the COVID-19 disaster relief fund, he believes selective support, which focuses on those who have been hit hard by the pandemic, is a priority over universal support.

Even though he’s been mentioned as a presidential candidate for the opposition party, Jeju Governor Won Hee-ryong has delayed expressing his intent in Jeju.

However, Governor Won has officially declared his bid for the presidency through the New Year’s Talk with KCTV.

Regarding the Public Prosecutor General, Yoon Seok-yeol, who has been mentioned as the next leading presidential candidate in the pan-opposition camp, he said that there are people’s expectations to resist the current regime, and he also suggested the possibility of solidarity.

In the case of Covid-19 disaster relief assistance, he said that it’s a priority to sort out where support is needed rather than providing universal support. So, he said he would provide additional Jeju-type support in such a fashion.


In addition, for the public opinion poll of the 2nd airport which has suffered a setback, he said that it is in the process of finding a solution, and in the case of the Facilities Management Corporation, where the ordinance was recently rejected, he added that he would reconsider it completely.
