Stresses importance of proper gear, warm-up exercises

Hallasan National Park is urging hikers to follow the safety rules, as the danger of accidents is higher during the winter.

The management office has cautioned hikers to check weather information and availability of trails, as the weather can be unpredictable during winter. They added that winter hiking requires more energy due to low temperatures and snowy trails.

Hikers were also advised to be properly equipped with crampon gear and emergency food while also emphasizing the importance of warming up before the hike.

The precautions come after 1,700 accidents that occurred on Hallasan Mountain last year, including three deaths and eight distress cases.

겨울 산행은 안전사고 위험이 높은 만큼
안전수칙 준수를 당부했습니다.

우선 겨울철 산행은 추위와 눈길로 체력소모가 심하고
예측할 수 없는 기상이변도 많아
기상정보와 탐방 가능 여부를
미리 확인해야 한다고 강조했습니다.

특히 아이젠과 방한복 등 용품을 갖추고
충분한 준비 운동과 비상식량을 준비하는 게 좋다고 설명했습니다.

한편 지난해 한라산에서는
1천 700여 건의 산악사고가 집계된 가운데
사망 3건, 조난 8건, 나머지 대부분은 단순수송으로 파악됐습니다.
