Jeju’s harbor volume at Jeju ports decreases in 2020
Slump in construction industry, prolonged pandemic cited as causes

Harbor volume in Jeju decreased last year for the first time in 13 years.

According to the province, port freight volume in Jeju, including Jeju and Seogwipo Port decreased by 4.7% to 19.3 million tons in 2020.

The amount of cement and gravel shipped into the ports reduced by 31% and 64%, respectively due to the slump in the construction industry.

The volume of general cargo also declined to 7.38 million tons, a consequence of the prolonged pandemic. This is a 0.4% decrease compared to the previous year.

항만 물동량 13년 만에 '감소'…건설자재 급감

지난해 도내 항만 물동량이
13년 만에 감소했습니다.

제주도에 따르면
무역항인 제주항과 서귀포항
그리고 연안항 4곳의 지난해 물동량은
1천 930만 톤으로 전년 보다 4.7% 줄었습니다.

특히 건설경기가 침체되면서
주요 건설 자재의 반입량도
시멘트는 31%, 자갈은 무려 64%나
급감했습니다.

코로나19 장기화로 인해
일반 잡화와 기타 품목 입항 물량도
전년 보다 0.4% 줄어든 738만 톤에
그쳤습니다.
