The COVID-19 pandemic has produced enormous amounts of single-use plastic waste from food delivery and takeout.

Meanwhile, an increasing number of people are holding on to zero waste principles that focus on waste prevention.

Joseph Kim reports.

This is a workshop in (노형동) Nohyeong-dong, Jeju City.
Sewing machines are working to produce reusable cloth diapers and face masks.
Finished goods are being piled up one by one neatly.

More consumers consider products’ environmental impact and choose eco-friendly goods.
The shop is busily visited by green consumers.


Five zero waste shops that sell eco-friendly products such as solid toothpaste and bamboo toothbrushes have opened in Jeju.


As the COVID-19 outbreak has produced enormous single-use plastic waste for food delivery and takeout, more people are aware of the waste problem.


Even though eco-friendly items can be less convenient, local consumers are going greener.
