Legislation proposed to support farms amidst suspension of school meals
Accumulation of unused produce estimated at 5.62M tons

In the event of a disaster that results in the suspension of school meals, support will be offered for contracted farmers of eco-friendly food services.

Lawmaker Song Young-houn (송영훈) of the Jeju Provincial Council proposed a revision to the Green Agricultural Free Lunch Ordinance to allow farmers with production contracts to receive necessary support within budget if school meals are suspended due to various disasters.

Currently, as school meals are either suspended or reduced due to COVID 19, the accumulation of environmentally friendly agricultural products in the region is estimated to be around 5.62 million tons, and the scale of monetary damage is estimated to reach 6.7 billion won.

현재 코로나19로 학교급식이 중단.축소되면서
지역 내
친환경농산물 적체 예상량은 562만톤,
이로 인한 피해규모는 67억원에 이를 것으로 추산되고 있습니다.
