COVID-19 reduces the number of foreign residents in Jeju
Expat population drops by over 9% in a year
The number of registered foreigners residing in Jeju has decreased in the past year.
According to the population status released by Jeju Island, there were 23,168 registered foreigners residing on the island as of last November, which was a decrease of 2,500, or 9.47%, compared to the previous year.
It is largely believed that the reason for the decrease is due to the growing number of expats returning to their home countries because of the pandemic.
