Province reports ￦16.2B in overdue wages
Over 3,000 people file for unpaid payments

Jeju Island has calculated 16.2 billion won in overdue wages in the province.

The provincial government has reported that as of the end of last year, 1,300 businesses and 3,000 employees were associated with overdue wages, totaling to 16.2 billion won in unpaid payments.

Of the 16.2 billion won, 9.9 billion won has been settled, with the remaining 6.26 billion won under judicial process or waiting to be liquidated.

Jeju Island plans to cooperate with the Gwangju Regional Employment and Labor Administration to come up with a solution before the Lunar New Year holiday and to provide free legal services from the Korea Legal Aid Corporation.

제주지역 체불임금이 162억 원에 달하는 것으로 나타났습니다.

제주도가 지난해 말 기준 체불임금 실태를 분석한 결과
체불임금 관련 사업장 수는 1천 300여 개, 근로자 수는 3천여 명으로
총 162억 원이 체불된 것으로 집계됐습니다.

이 가운데 99억원은 해결됐지만, 나머지 62억 6천만원은
아직 사법처리 중이거나 청산이 필요한 것으로 조사됐습니다.

제주도는 광주지방고용노동청과 협력해
설 명절 이전에 최대한 체불임금 문제를 해소하고
해결이 어려운 체불임금에 대해서는
대한법률구조공단 무료법률구조 서비스를
연계 지원한다는 방침입니다.
