Two elementary school students fail to respond to preliminary call
Whereabouts uncertain, parents could be fined up to ￦1M

Ahead of the start of the new school year, the whereabouts of two elementary school students are still unknown.

According to the Jeju Provincial Office of Education, of the two students who did not respond to the preliminary call, one is from a multicultural family who has an overseas departure record.

The other student was confirmed to have traveled to another part of the country with their family, but it was reported that the province has not been able to contact the parent of the child.

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act stipulates that parents can be fined up to 1 million won if they do not enroll their children who are of compulsory attendance age for school.

예비소집에 응하지 않은 2명 가운데
1명은 다문화가정 자녀로
해외 출국 기록만 확인된 상태입니다.

나머지 1명은 가족과 함께 항공편을 이용해
국내 다른 지방으로 이동한 내역은 확인했지만
해당 아동 부모와 연락이 안되는 것으로 알려졌습니다.

초.중등교육법에는 취학 연령이 된 아동을 입학시키지 않을 경우 부모에게 100만원 이하의 과태료를 부과할 수 있도록 돼 있습니다.
