Lawmaker pushes for Graduate School of Peace and Human Rights
Song Jae-ho proposes amendment to the Jeju Special Law to promote higher education

Song Jae-ho, lawmaker of the Democratic Party of Korea, proposed a partial amendment to the Jeju Special Act. The proposal allows community colleges to establish graduate schools.

The revised bill contains details training specialized professionals specific to the region by landing a special case to allow graduate schools to be established in community colleges under the Jeju Island Special Law.

Specifically, the proposals have presented training courses for specialists on peace and human rights in relation to the April 3rd incident as well as training local safety experts.

The current law allows the establishment and operation of a community college that offers a Bachelor’s Degree and Associate’s Degree in consideration of the uniqueness and geographic conditions of Jeju Island.

제주도 특별법에 전문대학에도 대학원을 둘 수 있도록 특례를 둬
지역에 특화된 전문인력을 양성하는 내용을 담고 있습니다.

구체적으로 지역안전 전문인력 양성을 비롯해
4.3 관련 평화인권 전문가 양성 과정 등을 제시했습니다.

현행법은
제주도의 특수성과 지리적 여건을 고려해
학사학위와 전문학사학위과정을 함께 운영하는 전문대학을 설립해 운영할 수 있도록 하고 있습니다.
