World's endangered Jeju Mankyua at risk
Pine tree disease control work damages natural habitats

It has been confirmed that the native habitat of Jeju Mankyua, a world-endangered species, has been damaged by the control work of pine tree disease.

Gotjawal representatives claimed that more than 40 sites, including the deformation of the natural habitat of Jeju Mankyua, were damaged by the Jeju City’s work to control pine wilt diseases.

Jeju Mankyua is a rare woonwort that lives exclusively on Jeju and is listed on the Red List of Serious Endangered Species by the World Federation for Conservation of Nature and has been designated and protected as endangered wildlife by the Ministry of Environment.
