Cherry blossoms bloom a week earlier
Flowers will be in full bloom next week

Cherry blossoms have bloomed on Jeju island a week earlier compared to last year.

The Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration announced that cherry blossoms have bloomed as of the 17th based on the observational standard trees located in Geonip-dong.

This is seven days earlier compared to last year and eight days earlier than average. They are expected to peak next week.

The meteorological administration explained that the cherry blossoms bloomed earlier than usual because the average temperature in March was 2 degrees celsius higher than last year and 3 degrees celsius higher than the average.

제주도내 벚꽃이 지난해보다 일주일 일찍 꽃을 피웠습니다.

제주지방기상청은
건입동에 위치한 관측 표준목을 기준으로
17일 벚꽃이 개화했다고 발표했습니다.

이는 지난해보다 7일,
평년보다 8일 빠른 것으로
다음주 절정을 이룰 전망입니다.

기상청은 3월 평균기온이
지난해에 비해 2도, 평년에 비해 3도 가량 높아
벚꽃이 평년보다 일찍 피었다고 설명했습니다.
