A floating offshore wind farm is being planned in Jeju waters for the first time in the nation.
The renewable energy source generated at the farm can be converted to hydrogen and used for future mobility vehicles.

Report
A wind turbine is a device that converts the wind’s kinetic energy into electrical energy.
It’s not easy to find places where the wind is strong and reliable and noise from the wind turbine blades draws complaints from area residents.
As an alternative, a floating offshore wind turbine mounted on a floating structure is receiving attention.

A floating offshore wind farm is being planned in the Jeju waters for the first time in the nation.

The province will spend 27 billion won of national funds to create an 8-megawatt wind farm by April, 2025.
It’s equivalent to the electric energy consumed by 8,000 households per year.

"스마트시티 허브사업은 제주에서 생산된 전력과 그린수소의 깨끗한 에너지를 전기차와 드론 등 미래형 이동수단 모빌리티에 공급 충전하고 도민들이 일상 생활에서 편리하게 사용할 수 있도록 연계하는 실증 모델입니다. "

Along with the floating offshore wind farm creation plan, the province has released plans for efficient use of renewable energy, which aims to improve storage of eco friendly energy.

The renewable energy source can be converted to hydrogen and stored in batteries during times of low demand and released in times of peak demand.
The batteries will be used for future mobility vehicles including electric cars, scooters and drones.

Charge, rental and return service for future mobility will be available at gas stations, supermarkets, and convenience stores.
24 locations including 10 gas stations will be designated for the service by the end of next year.

The province is also creating an innovative platform where electricity generated at homes, offices and farms is easily transacted through a regulatory sandbox.
