Test runs to allow cultivation of corn 3 times in a year
Experiment conducted to diversify Jeju’s agricultural products

The Jeju Agricultural Research and Extension Services will conduct a triple cropping demonstration test which will allow corn to be grown three times a year.

This empirical test is conducted to diversify Jeju's agricultural products, which have been heavily concentrated on a specific number of crops due to the downturn in consumption from COVID-19.

If the test is successful, the center expects that the supersweet corn which is difficult to store for long periods of time, can be supplied all year round.


6. 제주서 옥수수 연중 재배 실증시험 추진

제주도농업기술원 농업기술센터가
옥수수를 한해 세 차례 재배하는
3기작 재배 실증시험을 추진합니다.

이번 실증시험은
코로나19로 소비가 위축된 상황에서
특정 작목에 편중된 제주의 농산물을
다각화하기 위해 진행됩니다.

시험에 성공할 경우
장기간 저장이 어려운 초당옥수수를
겨울까지 연중 공급할 수 있을 것으로
농업기술센터는 기대하고 있습니다.
