Four-car collision occurred near Jeju National University
Police suspects the cause to be overheating brakes

A four-car collision involving buses and trucks left more than 60 people with casualties at the intersection in front of Jeju National University on the evening of the 6th. The cause is presumed to be due to an overheated brake.

Based on the statement by the 4.5-ton truck driver, the Jeju Dongbu Police Station suspects the cause of the accident to be a ‘vapor lock' in which brakes do not operate normally, or an overheating of the brakes. They are also investigating whether the truck was overloaded.

In addition, the police are conducting field investigations with the National Forensics Service.

Three people died from the accident and one person who was under cardiac arrest was taken to a hospital. Although the patient recovered through CPR the patient is still unconscious.

In total, 58 people including the driver of a 1-ton truck, bus passengers were injured and taken to the hospital.

국립과학수사연구원과 현장조사와 정밀 감정을 진행하고 있습니다.

한편, 이 사고로 3명이 숨지고
1명이 심정지 상태로 이송돼 심폐소생술을 받고 회복했지만
아직 의식이 없는 상태입니다.

또 1톤 트럭 운전자와 버스 탑승객, 행인 등 58명이 다쳐
병원으로 이송돼 치료를 받고 있습니다.
