Drones are being used across various industries to help companies save money, improve safety, and enhance the efficiency of their operations including agriculture. In particular, pesticide spraying drones save time and labor at local farms. Joseph Kim reports.
Report
A large drone is flying above a potato field.
It is spraying pesticides all around the area.
The unmanned aerial vehicle was introduced to save time and labor.
The agricultural drone cuts the operation time from one hour to less than 15 minutes.
And an operator can keep a safe distance from the chemicals being sprayed.
Farmers who try out the pesticide-spraying drone, apply for repeat use of the device.
Especially pesticide spraying drones are popular among local large -scale bean growers.
However, there are unresolved issues. Registration criteria for pesticides dispersed by drone haven’t been clearly set, and the chemicals can unintentionally pollute neighboring farms.
Drones are extending their field of operations in rural areas that suffer from a shortage of hands.
They will likely replace traditional tools for agriculture soon.
