9 people arrested for illegal catch of fishery products
They sold saw-edged perch, sea cucumber to restaurants

A number of people who bought and sold illegally caught fish have been arrested.

The Jeju Coast Guard charged a total of nine people who illegally caught saw-edged perch and sea cucumbers using diving equipment and harpoon guns, and two restaurant owners who purchased and then sold them to consumers, on charges of violating the Fisheries Act.

In recent months, 7 of them have illegally captured approximately 100 kilograms of high-end seafood products such as saw-edged perch and sea cucumber in waters near Seogwipo City and sold them to raw fish restaurants and other acquaintances.

In particular, it has been confirmed that they have systematically organized the crimes by distribution of roles to avoid Coast Guard crackdowns.

Investigations are underway to reveal exact details of the incident.

3. 잠수장비로 수산물 불법 포획·판매한 일당 검거

불법으로 포획한 어종을 판매하고
이를 구입한 이들이 무더기로 검거됐습니다.

제주지방해양경찰청은
잠수장비와 작살총을 이용해
다금바리와 해삼 등을 불법포획한
A씨 등 7명과
이를 구입하고 소비자들에게 판매한
음식점 업주 2명 등
모두 9명을 수산업법 위반 등의 혐의로 입건했습니다.

이들은 최근 몇개월 동안
서귀포시 인근 해상에서
다금바리와 해삼 등 고급 수산물 100kg 가량을 불법으로 포획해
횟집과 지인등에 판매한 것으로 드러났습니다.

특히, 이들은 해경의 단속을 피하기 위해
포획과 운반, 판매 등 역할을 분담해
조직적으로 범행을 이어온 것으로 확인됐습니다.

해경은 이들은 상대로
정확한 사건 경위를 조사하고 있습니다.
