Hepatitis A patients on the rise
Province recommends residents to follow precautionary measures

As the number of hepatitis A patients has been on the rise in the province, citizens are urged to take extra precautions.

According to the province, this year we have already had 37 reports of hepatitis A outbreaks in the province which exceeds the 33 cases that occured in the past year.

The spread and transmission of hepatitis A is mainly through the consumption of shellfish, such as raw oysters contaminated with the virus, or by direct person-to-person contact, and is likely to occur in communities with high density residential environments.

The province recommends people to cook their food thoroughly before consumption and follow precautionary measures such as thorough washing of hands.

5. A형 간염 환자 증가세…예방 수칙 준수 당부

최근 제주에서 A형 간염 환자가 잇따라 발생하면서
건강 관리에 주의가 요구되고 있습니다.

제주도에 따르면
올해 도내 A형 간염 발생 신고는 37건 접수돼
지난 한 해 동안 발생한 33건을 이미 넘어섰습니다.

A형 간염의 전파 경로는 바이러스에 오염된 생굴 등 조개류 섭취하거나
사람간 직접 접촉으로 인해 주로 전파되며
밀접한 주거 환경에서는 집단 발생할 가능성이 높습니다.

제주도는 음식을 충분히 익혀먹고, 손씻기 등 예방 수칙을 지켜줄 것을 당부했습니다.
