Environmental group claims Aljakji Coast damaged by disaster recovery work
Aljakji Coast is a local cultural heritage site

An environmental group claimed that the Aljakji Coast, a local cultural heritage site located in Jeju City, was damaged during disaster restoration work.

In a statement, the Jeju Office of Korea Federation for Environmental Movement claimed that the (알작지) Aljakji Coast, where stones were lost as the sea walls were built, was once again destroyed by disaster recovery work last year.

The federation emphasized that the province should shift away from being development-oriented and rather focus on protection measures, saying that the coastal road, which seeks to increase the accessibility of tourists, has actually caused destruction of the Aljakji Beach.

방파제가 들어서면서
몽돌이 유실된 알작지 해안은
지난해 재해복구공사로 다시 한번 파괴됐다고 주장했습니다.

이 단체는 관광객의 접근성을 높이려는 해안도로가
알작지를 파괴하는 모순을 불러 왔다며
제주도는 개발 중심의 연안관리정책에서
보호대책으로 전환해야 한다고 강조했습니다.
