Jeju City promotes project of removing 'hairy cat’s ears’
Invasive plants occupy and damage the habitats of native plants.

Administrative power and budget are invested every year in removing invasive species of plants that disrupt the ecosystem throughout the province.

Jeju City will spend 40 million won this year to promote an eradication project to eliminate 'hairy cat’s ears’ which occupy and damage the habitats of native plants.

Major areas of the eradication project will include Shinsan Park, Darangshi Oreum, Dang Oreum, and Mirinae Park.

Ecosystem-disrupting plants are spread throughout the province due to their strong self-reliance characteristics, and can cause great damage to native plants.


3. 생태계 교란 식물 '서양금혼초' 퇴치 추진

생태계 교란 식물이 제주 곳곳에 대량 서식하면서
이를 제거하는 데 해마다 행정력과 예산이 투입되고 있습니다.

제주시는 제주 고유 식물의 서식지를 점령하고
피해를 주는 서양금혼초, 이른바 개민들레를 대상으로
올해 사업비 4천만 원을 들여 퇴치 사업을 추진합니다.

주요 사업대상은 신산공원을 비롯한
다랑쉬오름, 당오름 일대, 미리내공원 등으로
수작업으로 서양금혼초를 뿌리째 제거하게 됩니다.

서양금혼초 등 생태계교란 식물은
강한 자생력으로 도내 곳곳에 분포하며
고유 자생 식물에 피해를 주고 있습니다.
