3 'breakthrough infections' in Jeju
29 cases reported nationwide

Three people were confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 even after vaccination in Jeju.

According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters, 29 cases of so-called “breakthrough infections” where inoculators are infected with COVID-19 more than two weeks after completing their vaccinations were confirmed nationwide.

Of these, 3 cases were reported in Jeju.

The quarantine authorities explained, however, that it is hard to say it is a breakthrough infection if the patient was exposed to the virus prior to receiving the vaccinations. Thus, they are considered as presumptive cases.

The province said that one of the three patients had coronavirus symptoms, so the patient cannot be defined as a breakthrough infection case.

코로나19에 감염된 사례가 제주에서는 3건으로 확인됐습니다.

코로나19에 확진된 이른바 돌파감염 사례는
전국에서 29건으로 파악됐습니다.

이 가운데 3건은 제주에서 발생한 것으로 분류됐습니다.

방역당국은 다만 백신 접종 뒤 2주가 지나고 확진됐더라도
그 전에 바이러스에 노출됐다면 돌파 감염이라고 보기 어려워
모두 추정 사례로 판단한다고 설명했습니다.
