Strengthened crackdown on food waste disposal
Fruit peels need to be disposed through standard garbage bags

Due to the lack of proper food waste management during the summer season, crackdowns and promotional activities are being strengthened.

Jeju City said that watermelon and other fruit peels, bones, shells as well as roots of vegetables need to be disposed through standard plastic garbage bags as they are not food waste.

They added that moisture should be sufficiently removed and other substances such as plastic and toilet paper should be separated.

Meanwhile, from June to August last year, the amount of food waste generated in Jeju City reached 457 tons.

음식물류 폐기물이 아닌 만큼
반드시 가연성 종량제 봉투를 통해 배출해 줄 것을 당부하고 있습니다.

또 음식물류 폐기물을 배출할 경우에도
물기와 기름기는 충분히 제거하고
비닐이나 휴지 등
이물질은 반드시 분리해 줄 것을 강조하고 있습니다.

한편 지난해 6월부터 8월까지 석달간
제주시 지역에서 발생한 음식물류 폐기물은 457톤에 이르렀습니다.
