Governor Won Heeryong opposes tensions between U.S. and China
Governor Won made opening speech at Jeju Forum

At the opening ceremony of the 16th Jeju Forum, Jeju Governor Won Hee-ryong said in his opening speech that he firmly opposes the structure of conflict between the U.S. and China as South Korean politician, saying that a new Cold War era is imminent amidst tensions and strategic competition between them.

He emphasized that the leaders of the U.S. and China must come together to create a future for the international community where sustainable peace and inclusive prosperity are possible.

Former French President Francois Hollande said in a video keynote that the province is achieving carbon neutrality faster than other countries and that all countries should work together to achieve goals based on the Paris Climate Agreement.

제16회 제주포럼 공식 개막식이 25일 오전 표선면 해비치호텔에서 열렸습니다.

개막식에서 원희룡 제주도지사는 개회사를 통해
미국과 중국의 긴장과 전략적 경쟁은
국제사회의 새로운 냉전시대 전망도 나온다며
대한민국 정치인으로서 갈등 구조에 단호히 반대한다고 밝혔습니다.

그러면서 미국과 중국 양국 정상이 머리를 맞대고
지속가능한 평화와 포용적 번영이 가능한 국제사회의 미래를 만들어 가야한다고 강조했습니다.

한편 프랑수아 올랑드 전 프랑스 대통령은
영상 기조연설을 통해 제주가 탄소중립 목표를 다른 국가들보다 빠르게 이뤄나가고 있다며 모든 나라가 파리기후협약 협정을 기본으로 하는 목표를 협력해
함께 이뤄나가야 한다고 전했습니다.
