Dream Tower accused of operating shopping mall without registration
The case sent to prosecutor’s office

The Jeju Seobu Police Station has forwarded the case of Lotte Tourism Development, the operator of Jeju Dream Tower, to the prosecutor's office on charges of violating the Distribution Industry Development Act.

According to the police, Jeju Dream Tower’s shopping mall with a floor area of 3,300 square meters was suspected of operating without proper registration even though the facility exceeds the standard of large-scale stores.

Jeju City filed a complaint with the police in March of Lotte Tourism Development, which operated a shopping mall without registering as a large-scale store.

According to the relevant laws, opening a large-scale store without registration is punishable by up to one year in prison or a fine of 30 million won.


3. 드림타워 대규모 쇼핑몰 미등록 영업 혐의 송치

제주서부경찰서는
제주드림타워 운영사인 롯데관광개발을
유통산업발전법 위반 혐의로 검찰에 송치했습니다.

경찰에 따르면 제주드림타워는
쇼핑몰 바닥 면적이 3천 3백여 제곱미터로,
3천 제곱미터를 넘어
대규모 점포로 구분되는데도
제대로 된 등록절차 없이 운영해 온 혐의를 받고 있습니다.

한편, 제주시는 지난 3월
대규모 점포 등록을 하지 않고
쇼핑몰을 영업한 롯데관광개발을 경찰에 고발했습니다.

관련 법에 따르면 등록 절차 없이 대규모 점포를 개설할 경우
최대 징역 1년 또는 벌금 3천만 원에 처해집니다.
