Jeju City mayor denies interest in governorship
Ahn Dong-woo 'may consider' running for office in future

Jeju City Mayor Andong Woo denied that he will run for governor in next year's elections, but left open the possibility.

When asked about his position on running for next year's election on the 29th at the press conference marking the first anniversary of his inauguration, Mayor Ahn said he would focus on city affairs for the rest of his term as Jeju City is facing a lot of issues and he is too busy to think about his plans.

However, he added that if given the political opportunity after his term, he will make a decision based on the situation and his political philosophy.

Mayor Ahn stated that he will expand the recruitment of winter training teams, improve community sports facilities, and promote an urban development project in the Hwabuk commercial area for the rest of his term.


3. 안동우 시장, 도지사 선거 출마설 '일단 부인'

내년 지방선거에서 도지사선거 출마 가능성에 대해
일단 부인은 했지만 여지는 남겼습니다.

안 시장은 29일 취임 1주년을 맞아 가진 기자회견에서
내년 지방선거 출마에 대한 입장을 묻는 질문에
아직까지는 향후 정치적인 일정에 대해
고민할 시간적 여유가 없고
제주시에 현안 문제가 많기 때문에
남은 임기 동안 시정에 매진한다는 입장이라고 밝혔습니다.

다만 퇴임 이후 정치할 기회가 주어진다면
그때 상황에 따라서
정치적 철학을 갖고 판단해서 결정하겠다고 덧붙였습니다.

한편 안 시장은 남은 임기 동안
겨울철 전지훈련팀 유치 확대와 마을 체육시설 기능 보강,
화북상업지역 도시개발 등을 추진하겠다고 말했습니다.
