Head of Korea Racing Authority faced with crisis to be laid off
He used abusive language against employee

Kim Woo-nam, Chairman of the Korea Racing Authority, who caused controversy by ordering the recruitment of a close associate and verbally abusing an employee who opposed the decision, is faced with the possibility of being laid off.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, conducted an audit on Chairman Kim, and came to a final decision of his dismissal. Chairman Kim was notified on the 1st.

The ministry plans to notify the final result of the audit after collecting opinions within a 10-day period for objections.

Chairman Kim, who is a formal third-term lawmaker in the Eul district of Jeju City, was accused of using abusive language against an HR employee for refusing to hire Kim’s previous aide as a chief of Secretary in March. The case was sent to the prosecutors’ office.

측근 채용을 지시하고 이를 반대하는 직원에게 폭언을 해 논란을 빚은
제주 출신 김우남 마사회장이 결국 해임될 처지에 놓였습니다.

마사회 주무 부처인 농림축산식품부는
김 회장을 상대로 지난 한 달여 간 감사를 진행한 결과
해임 건의 결정을 내리고 1일자로 김 회장에게 통보했습니다.

농식품부는 열흘 동안 이의신청 기간을 두고
의견을 수렴한 뒤 감사 결과를 최종 통보할 방침입니다.

제주시 을 지역구 3선 의원 출신인 김 회장은
지난 3월 자신의 국회의원 시설 보좌관을
비서실장으로 채용하라는 지시를 거부한 인사담당 직원에게
욕설과 폭언을 하면서 채용을 강요한 혐의로
검찰 송치됐습니다.
