Farmers urged to avoid daytime field work

As the heat wave continues, extra attention will be required in managing crops such as tangerines and beans.

The Jeju Agricultural Research and Extension Services reported the risk of pests, such as thrips, may increase sharply in tangerines due to the continued high temperature.

In addition, field crops such as beans and carrots have a high risk of developing slow growth and drying out, and hence should be managed proactively.

The Agricultural Research and Extension Services also urged people to follow safety rules to prevent heat-related incidents, such as suspending field work during the hottest hours.



5. 폭염에 농작물 관리 '주의'…"낮시간 농작업 피해야"

폭염이 계속되면서 노지감귤과 콩 등 농작물 관리에도
주의가 요구됩니다.

제주도 농업기술원은 노지감귤은 고온이 계속되면서 볼록총채벌레 등 해충류 발생이
급증할 우려가 있다며 철저한 예찰과 방제를 당부했습니다.

또 노지채소와 콩, 당근 등 밭작물은 생육부진과 마름 등의 발생 우려가 커 사전 예방과 관리가 필요하다고 밝혔습니다.

농업기술원은 이와함께 가장 더운 낮시간대 농작업은 반드시 중단하는 등
온열질환 예방을 위한 안전수칙을 지켜줄 것을 당부했습니다.
