Prosecutors have sought prison sentences for all five nursery school teachers accused of child abuse at a daycare center in Jeju City.
During the trial of the five nursery school teachers, including a 40-year-old male, Judge (김연경) Kim Yeon-kyung of the Jeju District Court, requested a minimum sentence of at least two years and six months up to a maximum of five years in prison.
The prosecution explained the reason for the sentence, stating that although it is difficult to find a precedent where multiple teachers habitually and indiscriminately abuse children, the incident will have major negative effects on the \young victims.
The defense attorneys on the defendant's side appealed for leniency, citing that he is still young and that he is reflecting on his crime.
