Jeju City is encouraging winter crop farmers to buy crop disaster insurance.

Crop disaster insurance pays insurance money for crop damage caused by natural disasters, such as typhoons and heavy rainfall. The national and provincial government pays for 85 percent of the policies.

The current list of crops that are eligible for subsidized disaster insurance includes winter radishes, broccolis, and cabbages. Applications can be made anytime for greenhouse crops.

Meanwhile, 8,900 farmers in Jeju City applied to be insured last year and 6,400 farms received insurance subsidies
