The first case has been reported of a farm trying to distribute unripe mandarin oranges ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
The Jeju City Municipal Office announced that the office identified 13 tons of unripe oranges with sugar content less than 8 brix at an orchard in Bonggae-dong, Jeju City on the 9th.
However, following inspection, all of the unripe mandarins had disappeared. Thus, the city government plans to impose a fine of up to 10 million won on the orchard.
Jeju City plans to conduct a special inspection on the distribution of extremely unripe mandarin oranges from the 13th, as illegal distribution is expected to be prevalent with the coming Chuseok holiday.
