Arguments over basic income
Lawmaker criticizes pledge

Political parties are arguing on the basic income pledge
that states to provide basic income with the environmental protection fund,
a proposal by the Democratic Party of Korea’s presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung.

The People Power Party’s presidential candidate (유승민) Yoo Seung-min criticized the pledge as populism stating that his pledge is similar to receiving toll fees at toll gates.

With regard to Yoo’s comments, lawmaker Song Jae-ho said that Yoo underestimated the efforts that Jeju island has made for the residents as a tourist city.

Former Jeju province governor Won Heeryong also participated in this argument. Won said that the environmental protection fund was established during his term and it is being pushed forward. Won also said that candidate Lee presented the pledge like a new pledge and what he did is kind of stealing pledges.

전국 톨게이트나 역에서 만원씩 거둬
기본소득 재원을 마련해야 하냐며
포퓰리즘이라고 비판했습니다.

이에 대해
송재호 더불어민주당 제주도당 위원장은
제주도가 관광도시로서 국민에게 봉사하면서 치른 노력을
깎아 내렸다고 지적했습니다.

여기에 원희룡 전 제주도지사도 가세해
자신이 재임 시절 이미 공식화했고,
현재 제주도가 추진하고 있는 제도를
마치 새로운 공약인 것처럼 발표했다며
공약 도둑질이라고 목소리를 높였습니다.
