Pothole Threat to Drivers


A car in the right lane suddenly shudders.
It hit a depression in the asphalt.


Drivers change lanes or slow down when they see a pothole to avoid hitting it.


Other local roads have the same story.


Some potholes on the roads have been filled and repaired.
The rim of the road depresses and cracks like spider webs.


This year's incessant rain and storms have weakened asphalt surfaces and caused cracks that develop into potholes, a depression in the asphalt.


Drivers suddenly slow down or switch lanes as potholes can cause serious impairment to vehicles, especially on those roads where vehicle speeds are greater.


Serious traffic collisions can occur as a direct result of sudden slowdowns or lane changes.

Potholes that form in a short period of time are not fixed in a timely manner, for lack of budget.
If treated provisionally, potholes soon return due to traffic.


Left untreated, potholes threaten drivers' road safety.

깨지고 부서지고…운전자 위협하는 도로


편도 2차선를 주행하는 차량이 갑자기 덜컹대며 흔들립니다.

도로 한 쪽에
웅덩이처럼 커다랗게 패인 부분 때문입니다.

이 곳을 지나는 차량들은
차선을 바꾸거나
속도를 줄인 채 아슬아슬하게 피해갑니다.


차들이 달리는 도로 곳곳에
땜질식으로 보수한 흔적들이 보입니다.

도로 한 쪽이 조금씩 가라앉으며
거미줄처럼 갈라진 곳도 있습니다.

한동안 이어지던 비 날씨와
태풍으로 인해
아스팔트가 약해진 상황에서
많은 차량들이 오가면서
이를 견디지 못하고 균열이 가기 시작하는 겁니다.

속도를 높여 달리다가
파손된 구간을 지나게 되면
바퀴와 차량에 손상을 입을 수도 있다보니

갑작스럽게 속도를 줄이거나
차선을 바꾸는 경우도 많습니다.

통행량이 많은 도로의 경우
파손된 구간을 피하려다가
다른 차량과 부딪혀
사고로 이어질 가능성도 큽니다.


특히 갑작스럽게 발생하는 포트홀은
예산이 충분치 않아
보수가 늦어지고 있습니다.

임시로 보수를 하더라도
차량들이 통행하면서
다시 생기기 일쑤입니다.


태풍 등으로 인해 파손된 도로 곳곳에 대한
보수가 늦어지며
운전자들의 안전이 위협받고 있습니다.
