Province localizes New Deal 2.0 initiative
Plans to create 45,000 jobs

The provincial government and provincial council have proposed a plan to create 45,000 jobs by pushing forward a New Deal 2.0 initiative which is an upgraded version from Jeju’s New Deal initiatives announced last year.

The acting Jeju governor, (구만섭) Koo Man-sub
and the chief of the Economic Committee for Agricultural, Fishery, Livestock,
(현길호) Hyun Kil-ho announced at a press briefing
held on the 12th on the outcomes of the Jeju’s New Deal initiatives
from last year as well as their future plans.

New Deal 2.0 scales-up last years’ Stronger Safety Net to Human New Deal
and adds a Regional Balance New Deal.

Green New Deal, Digital New Deal, and Human New Deal
will continue to operate major projects while discovering new works,
and the Regional Balance New Deal will work to strengthen
government relations including securing national budgets.

The province expects to create 45,000 jobs through the New Deal 2.0 initiative with a plan to invest 6.4 trillion won by 2025.



'제주형 뉴딜 2.0' 추진…"일자리 4만 5천개 창출"

제주도와 제주도의회가 지난해 발표한 제주형 뉴딜을 진화시킨 '뉴딜 2.0'을 추진해
일자리 4만 5천여 개를 창출하겠다는 계획을 제시했습니다. 구만섭 도지사 권한대행과 현길호 도의회 농수축경제위원장은 오늘 공동 브리핑을 통해 지난 1년 간 제주형 뉴딜 추진 성과와 앞으로의 추진 계획을 발표했습니다.

뉴딜 2.0은 지난해 발표했던 그린 뉴딜과 디지털 뉴딜, 안전망 강화에서 안전망 강화 분야를 휴먼 뉴딜로 확대하고 지역균형 뉴딜을 추가했습니다. 그린 뉴딜과 디지털 뉴딜, 휴먼 뉴딜은 기존 체계의 주요 사업을 지속하거나 일부 신규 발굴하고 지역균형 뉴딜에서는 국비 확보 등 정부 대응을 강화하게 됩니다.

제주도는 뉴딜 2.0을 통해 2025년까지 6조 4천억 여원을 투입해
일자리 4만 5천여 개를 창출할 것으로 내다봤습니다.
