New school establishment revoked

The alumni association of the Jeju High School urged to revoke the Provincial Office of Education’s plan of establishing a new high school at the site of Jeju High School.

The alumni association held a press conference at the provincial council building on the 1st and denounced superintendent
Lee Seok-moon’s policy of expropriating Jeju High School’s land
for the site of the new high school.

They said that constructing 25 meter wide roads
may violate rights of students
and asked Superintendent Lee to indicate
his clear stance on the issue.

While Superintendent Lee announced
a plan to establish a new high school last month,
he said the issue of whether to use the site is not a matter
that needs to be discussed with Jeju High School.


제주고 동창회, "모교 부지 내 일반고 신설 철회"

교육청의 동지역 일반고 신설과 관련해
제주고등학교 동창회가 모교 부지 내에
고등학교 신설 계획을 철회하라고 주장했습니다.

제주고등학교 총동창회는
1일 제주도의회에서 기자회견을 열고
모교 부지를 일반고 신설 부지로 수용하겠다는
이석문 교육감의 교육 정책을 규탄한다고
밝혔습니다.

특히 신설 학교에 25미터 도로를 조성할 경우
제주고 학생들의 학습권이 침해될 수 있다며
이에 대한 교육청의 명확한 입장 표명을
요구했습니다.

이석문 교육감은 지난 달,
고등학교 신설 계획을 발표하면서
제주고 부지 활용 여부는
학교측과 논의할 사안은 아니라고 말했습니다.
