Community Center Reach Out

A lecture on time management has the full attention of the women in attendance.

This is a part of a program to help women who left the workforce to raise their families to get their careers back on track.

More than 100 paid members take part in this program with classes on rebooting their careers and sharing useful, up-to-date information.

The program is now run at the newly opened Center for Social Connectivity. The public can make use of the shared office supplies, meeting rooms and other facilities in the center.

The 12 billion won center is located near the (중앙) Jungang Underground Shopping Mall in Jeju City. It serves as a place for citizens to come together in the spirit of sharing.

The five-story building has two basement floors and houses a library, cafe, meeting rooms and workshops. Any islander is free to use the facility.

For mothers attending lectures who have children with them, a kid-friendly space is provided, and a shared kitchen is also available for cooking classes.

The center leases offices and meeting rooms at low cost to cooperatives and groups that are working to revitalize the downtown area and solve local issues.

The Center for Social Connectivity offers islanders a place to gather and share their daily problems and frustrations, and to come up with innovative solutions to make the island a better place.

여성들의 일터 복귀를 돕기 위해 마련된 교육 프로그램입니다.

재취업 교육뿐만 아니라
관련 최근 정보를 공유해
유료 회원이 백명에 육박할 만큼 호응을 얻고 있습니다.

특히 최근에는 소통협력센터에 입주하면서
공용 사무용품 뿐만 아니라
회의실 등 다양한 부대시설도 이용할 수 있게 됐습니다.

120억 원이 투입돼
제주시 중앙지하상가 옛 산업은행 건물에 조성된 소통센터가
그야말로
주민들의 사랑방 역할을 톡톡히 하고 있습니다.

지하 2층 지상 5층 규모로 도서관과 카페,
회의실과 공동 작업실 등이 조성돼
도민이면 누구나 이용할 수 있습니다.

또 육아과 교육을 병행하기 어려운 주부들을 위해
어린이 친화 공간과
요리 등 각종 취미 활동이 가능한 공유 주방도 갖췄습니다.

특히 원도심 활성화 등
지역 문제 해결에 앞장서는 협동조합이나 단체에는
저렴한 비용으로
사무실과 회의실 등을 제공하고 있습니다.

소통협력센터는
도민들이 편하게 모여 일상의 불편을 이야기하고
나아가 함께 해결책을 고민하는
진정한 소통 공간으로 기대를 모으고 있습니다.
